The SSC 2025 Exams will be remembered for widespread protests across the country as millions of aspirants and the teachers rally against the alleged mismanagement in the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Selection Post Phase 13 recruitment exam.
The sudden exam cancellations, technical and equipment issues, mismanagement and poor treatment of the aspirants at the exam centres epitomize the systematic failure of the SSC and the Test Vendor Eduquity.
While speaking to the renowned news channel the SSC Chairman S. Gopalkrishnan admits to mismanagement but affirms the exams will not be cancelled.
He added, “If even one candidate has been wronged, we will conduct exam again for them”. However he indicated that the rescheduled test may be held for the candidates who did not get a “fair chance” during the original test window due to disruptions.
The Chairman admitted to the mismanagement citing computer system failure, mouse mal functions and allocation of distant exam centres to candidates, he stated that the SSC has written to Eduquity Career Technologies, which was awarded the tender to conduct the SSC exams.
He stated, “We have written to Eduquity Career Technologies asking them to address the issues for exams held from July 24 to August 1. We will penalize the test vendor for system crashes and hardware malfunctions.”
The protestors are demanding removal of Eduquity from conducting the SSC exams. The Test Vendor for SSC 2025 exams, Eduquity is a private agency who was blacklisted due to its controversial past.
This agency was earlier blacklisted by the educational department because of its involvement in the Vyapam scam, which involved bribery, seat manipulations and impersonations scandals.
When talking to the news agency, the SSC Chairman S. Gopalkrishnan ruled out test vendor replacement. He said, “One the basis of one test I cannot remove them, a fresh tender is needed to be floated for replacement which could take until December”
He further asked, “How will I conduct the exams in the meantime?” Some of the most serious issues occurred at the two centres – Pawan Ganga in Delhi and Educasa in Uttar Pradesh. In both these centres the exams where entirely cancelled, affecting about 2500 students.
The Chairman did acknowledge the teething issues with the new test vendor and assured of corrections in coming months. He said, “We are reviewing analyzing logs, CCTV footage and electronic data to ensure accountability. We have seen an improvement in the company’s functioning over past one week.”
He said, “There were issues on the first few days, they are resolved now”. The Staff Selection Commission, along with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing monitors the exam process through a network system installed on each desktop to ensure the integrity using logs, electronic data analysis and CCTV footage.
The Chairman affirmed that they are hopeful the upcoming exams scheduled between August 6 and 8 involving 3.5 lakhs candidates will be smooth. The last minute changes and repeated technical glitches sparked protests across Delhi last week, with hundreds of aspirants and tutors expressing their outrage through social media platforms and protests in Jantar Mantar and CGO Complex.
This backlash has led the SSC to review its exam protocols.
