Record Number of Applicants Register for SSC CGL 2025 – Over 28 Lakh Aspirants

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has received over 28 lakh applications for just 14582 CGL vacancies in 2025.

SSC is one of the top government recruitment bodies in India. Every year, the commission conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam to select candidates for various posts in the Central Government Departments.

“This year we have received a record number of applications for the CGL Exam”, said the SSC spokesperson. 28, 15,445 candidates have applied for SSC CGL 2025. But the number of available posts is only 14,582. This shows high competition in this exam this year.

28 Lakhs Applications for the CGL Post against 14582 vacancies

This year marked a record number of applications for the CGL post against the 14582 vacancies. This means 193 candidates are competing for each vacancy. “The staggering increase in the number of applications highlights the popularity of the SSC CGL exam among government job aspirants”, added the spokesperson.

Given the large number of applications and limited seats, the competition will be extremely high. Candidates preparing for the exam must understand that the selection will require focused preparation, regular practice, good guidance and a success-oriented exam strategy.
